Intrepid Bakers is an artisan bakery and café with branches in Hornsey and Tufnell Park, serving a close-knit community in North London. The project focused on refining the brand’s identity and strengthening its digital presence, with the aim to create a clearer visual foundation and a content system that captures the atmosphere and character of both locations.

Intrepid Bakers needed a more cohesive brand presence across two North London locations while maintaining the everyday familiarity of a neighbourhood café. The main challenge was presenting a unified identity that still felt honest to the rhythm of the space, warm, busy, and community-driven, without losing clarity across digital platforms.

The visual and digital approach focused on building structure around what already made the bakery distinctive. We developed a clearer visual system, refined the brand’s tone, and introduced a content framework rooted in real moments, staff interactions, daily activity, and product highlights, creating a consistent identity that works across social media, web, and in-store touchpoints.

The Logo 

The Intrepid Bakers logo was refined to create a bolder and more cohesive visual mark that reflects the brand’s energetic, craft-driven identity.

Adjustments to structure, contrast, and form improved legibility across packaging, signage, and digital use while preserving the character and warmth of the original hand-drawn style.

Visual Direction

The visual direction highlighted the genuine atmosphere of Intrepid Bakers, focusing on staff interactions, daily activity, and the natural rhythm of the café.

Relatable moments were paired with curated product visuals to create a warm, approachable content system that remains consistent across social media and in-store touchpoints.

Web & Mobile

The web and mobile experience was redesigned to better support basenotes’ expansion into the European market. The interface was refined with a clearer layout, structured product pathways, and a visual system that reflects the brand’s handcrafted identity.

Updated UX flows improved browsing, comparison, and purchase clarity, while enhanced mobile optimisation ensured a consistent experience across all devices. The result is a more intuitive and accessible platform that communicates the brand’s values with precision.
